Working ferry loaded on a cargo ship

Who we are

A passion born of a challenge, handed on with the same standards

Since 2000, FREIGHTECOM has cultivated an unusual trade: shipping boats of every size by cargo, on the most atypical routes, and following each one from one end to the other.

2000, the birth of FREIGHTECOM

A challenge set from Miami

Fast ferry hoisted aboard a cargo ship by its cranes

After a long career with important freight forwarders, Francis Binder gets the opportunity to create FREIGHTECOM in 2000.

One of his contacts asks him about bringing a large boat back from Miami to the Mediterranean. The deal is struck, the shipment goes perfectly and, on the strength of that success, others follow.

Recognised know-how

From offshore races to working boats

FREIGHTECOM thus specialises in shipping boats by cargo vessel and builds a real know-how, both with shipyards and with prescribers of every kind, for pleasure boats and working boats alike.

Passion and word of mouth fuel the growth, and customers entrust us with bigger and bigger boats for shipments all over the world. For twenty years, FREIGHTECOM has also made its name in offshore racing, with charters for the Route du Rhum and the Vendée Globe.

On every shipment, we commit to finding bespoke solutions. Every boat is carried with care, agility and operational excellence, so that our customers are fully satisfied.

Henry-Philippe Montazel takes over

Handover on July 23rd, 2020, with Francis Binder and Henry-Philippe Montazel.

Having worked together in the 90s, Francis and Henry-Philippe have known each other for a long time and share the same values. The first one wants to retire, the second one to run his own business.

After training in 2019 at the C.R.A. (Cédants et Repreneurs d'Affaires), Henry-Philippe Montazel sets out to buy a company and gets back in touch with Francis. Henry-Philippe has more than 30 years of experience in freight forwarding, both in France and Asia, and wants to carry out a long matured entrepreneurial project.

2020 is the year of the handover: the two men quickly agree on a successful takeover and secure a six-month handover period. Carried out in the middle of the COVID period, the takeover did nothing to dampen his drive. On the contrary, it called for an ambitious commercial push that paid off the very next year.

Our reputation grows stronger among the boating and maritime communities. Since then the company has kept on developing, doubling its turnover every year for five years!

2021, a meeting that made sense

Our commitment alongside Violette Dorange

In parallel, in 2021, we meet a certain Violette Dorange at an Apprentis d'Auteuil evening where she is patron. Barely 20, she is already talking about the next Vendée Globe (“the Everest of the seas”) held in 2024/2025, which she wants to enter.

Her composure, her determination and her values won us over, and she was looking for sponsors. We believed in her and chose to back her. The rest is well known: she sailed this legendary race magnificently, and FREIGHTECOM gained in reputation too through this wholehearted support.

2022, the team grows

Géraldine Grise at the helm of operations

This growth justifies the arrival in 2022 of Géraldine Grise, who joins the adventure. With solid experience in out-of-gauge transport and maritime freight forwarding, she takes charge of operations. A new step in the company's development.

Today

The independent French reference for boat transport by cargo.

Our development goes on, and our exacting standards and bespoke service win our customers over. We take enormous pleasure in being present at every single loading of the boats we ship, wherever in the world it takes place, always assisted by a marine surveyor.

Because a boat is not shipped the way a container is: a thousand precautions must be observed, whatever the circumstances.
